When to repot

Signs that a plant has outgrown its pot.

Repotting too often can set a plant back. Doing it at the right time gives roots room without drowning them in wet soil.

Look underneath

Roots growing out of the drainage holes are the clearest sign that it is time.

Go one size up

A pot only slightly larger than the old one keeps the soil from staying wet for too long.

Choose spring

Plants recover fastest when they are already growing, so spring is the easiest time.
